When I see some material or object, the question is not what it is, but what it can become. I’m interested in how to connect things from everyday life with the surroundings, in how to play with its meaning and function in order to create space and thought. To reveal a state of things. I believe that as an artist, I have the possibility of raising questions through my work, of trying the unexpected. And that is what fascinates me, all the potential from space that can become exposed and its dimensions. It is as if a sort of energy field is challenging our senses and the logic we tend to make out of it. Putting us in the unknown space where the rules are not quite clear, but not less exciting.
Echo is a part of this constellation. Mirror plates were put where music notes were supposed to be. I like to imagine what the sound dimension of the work would be if a musician tried to play it. Echo? The object is a paradox: the stability of the stands against the dynamic of the mirrors. At every new position of the viewer there will be a slight different angle, the image reflected from the surroundings changes opening its spectrum. This tension creates an irony when the object virtually fails to its static purpose to become something else.
